Mixing prints can feel like rocket science sometimes, but its not that big of a deal. Once you get the basics, you can do it like a pro.
Simple Guidelines/Options for Mixing Patterns/Prints:
1. Take one color repeat in every piece of the outfit (for example, green flowered with green, red, and white plaid/checked). Similar colour palettes help blend your outfit.
2. Combine loose prints with structured prints (like swirls/doodles with stripes).
3. Blend small designs with larger-scale ones (such as gingham with bold flowers). Scale is key. Two prints of equal scale will give your outfit an overwhelming appearance.
4. Floral and Soft Stripes.
5. If you're mixing two intense prints try to break it down with a belt.
6. Polka Dots and….just about any print or pattern!
