Over plucked eyebrows

Over plucked eyebrows are just clownish and there is no polite way of saying that. And the last time they ‘trended’ was in the 90s.Eyebrows play a great role in framing your face. They can make your features too small or too large. When over done they either permanently give you an angry or a surprised face.

The worst form of over plucked eyebrows is when one shaves off everything and draws back a thin
semi circle with a pencil that’s either too dark or too light(sharpies or chola eyebrows). Other eyebrow disasters include mismatched eyebrows(of course we know that no two eyebrows are equal) or patchy eyebrows.

I remember the first time I made my eyebrows, I got carried away with the razor and for a while I had to walk around ‘incision marks’. After swearing off razors, I opted for shaving cream instead and ended up with an equally embarrassing situation. Though the shape came out well if I do say so myself, my brows were left in patches. I think I should add that I didn’t know how to fill in brows.
It is important to get the shape best suited for your brows. Also, know the density of your eyebrows. There are people who don’t necessarily have thin eyebrows but the hairs are thin and light in colour which makes them look barely there. It is still important to shape those eyebrows and fill them in with a brow pencil or powder.

Your face shape and the eye brow shape

Please note:
> to regrow your eyebrows, throw away the razors
and the tweezers
> if your afraid of how messy your growing eyebrows will look, sport a fringe for a while (usually 3 to 8 weeks or even more depending on how fast/slow your hair grows)
> let nature take it’s course
> once they grow back, go to a professional to have them threaded/tweezed but most importantly SHAPED. You can maintain the shape at home with your tweezer
> if you’re sceptical about the person you want to do your eyebrows, look at the outcome of the people walking out of his/her salon(funny how most
of them are guys)
> if your eyebrows are thin/barely there (naturally), get them shaped and learn how to fill them in.
> if you insist on doing it yourself (DIY), know the shape of your face and what type of brow suits you. You can refer to the picture below, or watch the videos on the links provided below.
> remember thick brows are trending :-)

Older woman's clothes

A certain friend of mine had a really bad morning. She was going to work and this was the day she thought to get to work just on time, like 8.ooam-on-the-dot- on time. It was all working well until 2 minutes to eight when like they say all hell broke loose! A very huge lorry at a very reasonable speed not speeding mark you, sunk into a pothole (oh snap, forgot to mention it had rained) and made
a very beautiful graffiti piece on her outfit…and that was the beginning of a very frustrating day.

I won’t mention all excruciating details of what she had to go through but let’s just say she spent all day in someone else’s spare clothes…an older woman’s spare clothes ,picture that. Going back home was out of the question, y’all understand those days with deadlines, that was one of them.

All I am saying is if she had spare clothes in her own bag or somewhere in her drawer, the situation would have been better. So I learnt to always to keep a set of clothes in the office, from her experience of course just to be safe. Most people remember the nitty gritties like makeup, shoes, sweaters but never a whole outfit, try it, it might save you or someone else someday. Those ‘IDP’ bags should be put to good use this time around don’t you think!

Some of you might have caught it, others not, so here it is, that certain friend of mine doesn’t
exist, it was all me…:-)  Fay JTT

We all have that one friend

We all have that one friend:
1. Who thinks everything you wear is awesome even if you're in sweat pants and bathroom slippers
2. Who thinks you're a nut job 'hata kama ni fashion, orange na blue?' Or 'ati hii skirt imeanzia wapi na inaishia wapi?' (in reference to a high-low/dip hem) Arrrrrgh!
3. That one friend who let's you walk around looking like a clown until you're saved by your frenemy, who by hating say on your smudged eyeliner saves your life and when you ask that one friend they'll always say a) I didn't notice or b) I didn't know how to tell you. Mhhhhhh. Thank God for frenemies.
4. That one friend who borrows this and that, and this and that but the day you need that one thing from her she'll be like 'haki I can't give you that, anything else is fine.' Okaaay then give me that instead, 'woi!  Kwanza that one was a gift, I can't give you' o_O
5. That one friend  who buys clothes all the time but you wonder why they rewind those three outfits, the same exact way, unless its a wedding (I'll give her some credit)
6. That one friend who has all the money in the world but the help dresses better than her. Oops!
7. That one friend who buys clothes that won't fit, even after pointing out that its small, or extra large. Hey, people have different body perceptions
8. That one friend who thinks you are beneath her, she's always talking about how you need an upgrade, a man and a Makeover (yes I did say a man) and she wonders why you always avoid her.
9. That one friend who needs to TONE IT DOWN!!! She gives ratchet a new meaning. Every things got to jingle and gleam and shine, or everything's got to match *gag reflex*
10. That one friend who can even make rags look awesome. And has a great personality, you can't hate her so you're always oogling, she gives you awesome tips and encourages you to bring out your own style and own it. Too bad if you don't have this one friend. :-p
What one friend do you have?

Nude lipstick

Nude lipsick has been in this season it is lipstick that is close to the shade of a person’s  natural skin tone. Wearing nude lipstick is meant to enhance the lips without being too dramatic.
Dos for wearing nude lipstick
  • exfoliate your lips regularly with a gentle scrub preferably with a wet toothbrush to remove dead skin
  • choose a colour that is perfect for your skin tone don’t go for colours that are two shades lighter or darker than your natural lip tone
  • use a lip balm or moisturising primer before applying lipstick Vaseline can be used as well
  • add gloss after applying lipstick to create more volume

Don’ts
  • don’t choose a colour that is lighter than your natural shade
  • don’t use frosted lipstick (Frosted lipstick is lipstick that gives opaque coverage), opt for a matte lipstick (long-lasting nature of matte lipstick gives a drying effect) which you have to top up with some gloss.
  • don’t apply foundation to your lips before or after applying a nude lipstick
  • don’t use lipliner unless it is exactly the same shade as your lipstick
Vasanti

For us black ladies, the darker your skin tone the more chocolatey/coffee your colours should be, and the lighter your skin tone the more golden your colours should be. If you are extremely light, you can go for rosy colours.
